Thread for all things hardcore (classic/post/blackened) and the various derivatives (emo, metalcore, deathcore etc.). Basically anything *core. This is bound to cause a bit of disagreement/contention/rage/revulsion/anal warts so let's try and keep it clean folks!

Let me start the ball rolling with what I think represents hardcore:

A bit of post-hardcore

Some other stuff:

That's all I've got time for for now. Lots more to come.

In my opinion; the past videos sound more like anarcho-punk.

Hardcore, Or Post-Hardcore I think of could be represented by:

Escape The Fate - There's no Sympathy for the Dead

Silverstein - My heroine

Fightstar - Deathcar

Fightstar - War Machine

Sorry to spit hairs with you dude, but that's only broadly hardcore. Maybe Emo or Metalcore. There are post-hardcore elements

The stuff that me and Enos posted is, to the greater extent, by definition hardcore. Check the definition in Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardcore_punk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_hardcore

This is what we're talking about!

Basically, these are all the bands that the bands you mentioned got their sound from.

I think we might be hitting on a bit of a generation thing here. For me 'hardcore' will always mean bands like Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Nomeansno so on. There's waaaay to many to mention.

To me bands like Fightstar aren't 'hardcore', I'm not really sure what I would call them, probably modern emo if I was pushed. I think what's happened in recent years is that the suffix *core has been applied to all sorts of bands in order to group bands into a 'scene' that is a bit easier to market.

Like I say, it seems to be a generation thing

Anyhooo . . .

Talking of crust . . .

At the bottom of the post-hardcore page, it mentions my bands :D

I do admittedly like Suicidal Tendancies (Robert Trullijo xD), and Black Flag aren't too bad xD

If you call that emo, You wanna hear what is marketed as emo :P

I wouldn't say Cro-mags are anarcho punk!

Anyways, not too knowledgable on hardcore but I love old grindcore and crust punk.
